Blue Tax is based out of Encino, California. They are bonded and licensed to work in all 50 United States. While they offer many additional services, tax relief is their specialty.
Blue Tax offers many additional services to tax relief, including bookkeeping and payroll. However, their main priority is tax relief services. Blue Tax provides solutions to tax issues that result in bankruptcy, which many companies are unable to offer.
The company understands that not all cases are alike and so there is no cookie cutter approach when it comes to how they tackle tax debt. A free consultation is offered to assess each individual case and provide a plan of action in how to deal with the IRS. A team of tax attorney’s, Enrolled Agents, and CPA’s are available to ensure proper tax codes are enforced to render a positive outcome for clients. Four team members are dedicated to each case, providing client’s peace of mind when it comes to finding relief from their tax burden.
The company provides social media outlets to help consumers get up to par on tax related issues. Available sources are weekly posts to Facebook and Twitter.
Highlights of Blue Tax’s tax relief services include:
- Each case gets a dedicated team of four or more
- A+ BBB rating
- CPA’s, Enrolled Agents, and Tax Attorney’s on staff
- Licensed in all 50 states
Our biggest concern lies within the length of time the company has been operating. Blue Tax launched their business in 2104, meaning they only have one year of business experience under their belt. This should not be deemed as a reason to exclude consideration of services, it leaves a lot to question on how satisfied consumers are and how well they conduct business.
After thorough research and communication with company representatives, we found Blue Tax does not hold any professional memberships, certifications, or accreditations with some of the nation’s top tax agencies. While they hold accreditation with the BBB, we would like to see them retain affiliations with associations such as the American Bar Association (ABA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) to name a few.
Another one of our concerns is their lack of transparency in their pricing structure, as well as a refund policy. They offer general information pertaining to price such as “half of the fee is due up-front,” although representatives were unable to provide our team with any sort of ballpark figure. When inquiring about policies pertaining to refunds, again, they were unable to provide even a simple range or allotted amount of days before backing out. All-in-all, there isn’t really a refund policy – each case will be determined based on representatives and dynamics surrounding the reason for a refund.
In addition, the company would do well to provide updated articles to their blog as a way to assist their clients, and the general public, become more aware of how the tax world works. The latest blog post is dated almost a year ago, although the information in posts is valuable.
Blue Tax offers a free consultation to accurately assess the tax status of callers. A professional representative may offer a plan to help relieve tax burden, although they don’t offer payment plans. After our team of researchers inquired about their fee-matrix, it was determined that each case varies and in order to determine even a simple ballpark range, consumers must call in and breakdown their dilemma to consultants.
Minimum Tax Debt Accepted
The company requires taxpayers to have a minimum amount of $10,000+; however, they are able to assist with unfiled tax returns with lower amounts.
Time In Business
Blue Tax has been in business since 2014.
Blue Tax has been accredited with the BBB since 2010, although they have only been operating on a national scale since 2014. They have received an ‘A+’ rating. 13 complaints have been closed in the past 3 years with 5 of them closed in the past 12 months. 11 of the complaints have been filed under “Problems with Product/Service.” After a thorough review of the consumer complaints and business response, we found the company would do well to respond in a more professional manner. Many of the complaints and responses seemed to trek along the lines of name calling and mud-slinging.
