Tax Group Center
In business since 2008 and offers many tax relief services.
The Good
- Unique services
- Flat fee
- Great team
- Educational tools and resources
Unique Services
For being a newbie in the tax industry, Tax Group Center offers some unique tax relief services not common in this industry. The first is the Employer Tax Service (ETS) program. For employers who wish to help employees who are stressed by difficult tax problems, TGC offers a company discount. There is no cost to employers who wish to enroll in the ETS Program and their employees will receive 30 percent off tax service fees.

Additionally, they offer a unique service called the Freedom of Information Request (FIR). This is a service that allows customers to make IRS or state revenue inquiries through the TGC based on the Freedom of Information Act (FIA) without drawing too much unwanted attention on themselves. Customers are given the chance to feel they are doing something positive about a potentially tough situation without undue exposure to tax authorities. Tax consultants are available to help determine the potential client’s financial situation and to determine qualification.
Flat Fee
When it comes time to pricing, clients will be assess a flat fee which will be outlined in the service agreement. As many companies in this industry claim, fees cannot be quoted until they have a clear idea and method of resolution. We recommend inquiring about any additional future fees, as some companies have a habit of charging several thousand more after a few months of working on the case.
Great Team
TGC has a fully staffed team of CPA’s, Tax Attorney’s, Enrolled Agents and Certified Tax Consultants and practice around their three S System which includes Service, Solution and Success. Everything they do as a business is held to their three S System standard, including their 24/7 hours of operation.
Educational Tools and Resources
This company has done quite well in offering educational materials and resources for consumers to fill up on such as articles (although they are outdated from 2013), tax forms, glossary, and an FAQ page with useful information.
The Bad
- American Bar Association
- Educational tools and resources
American Bar Association
The company staffs Tax Attorney’s and due to this, we would like to see them reach out to gain a membership with the American Bar Association. This would serve as another method to reduce stress from potential clients.
Educational Tools and Resources
In addition, they have failed to keep up to date on their offering of educational tools and resources. They have a Twitter account; however, posts haven’t been updated since the beginning of 2014.
The Bottom Line
Tax Group Center provides customers with good variety of services and dedication to customers with their three S System. Their long list of accreditations leads us to recommend taking advantage of their free consultation. Keep in mind, however, they have a history of complaints and company name changes throughout time suggesting they have failed in alternate attempts of providing tax resolution services. Overall, we suggest taking a look at some of our top recommend tax companies to find out if they may be able to resolve your tax needs.
Pricing
The taxpayer’s profile must be complete so that Tax Group Center has a clear idea of how much work will be involved before a fee for service is quoted. The Service Agreement will have a flat fee – not hourly – based on TGC’s estimate of the workload involved to bring the case to resolution. It was the same for bookkeeping services and tax preparation – costs for both are dependent upon the complexity of individual cases. TGC will perform a Freedom of Information Request free of charge without obligation on the client’s part to use any of TGC’s other services.

User Score00 people found this review helpful!I absolutely do not recommend this company. We signed with this group a week before the pandemic and lock down and amid this pandemic the only thing we did is pay them 2500 to get started and sign an agreement. We had to cancel immediately due to being shut down and social distancing and asked a refund or partial refund like it states in their agreement and they refused to give us a partial refund after they did absolutely nothing, we never got started. We hired them to help us not to steal from us but I can see that they have a low rating compare to other tax relief companies and I can see why. SCAM CON ARTISTSWas this review helpful? Yes

User Score02 people found this review helpful!I spoke with a women named Samantha, not sure if that’s her real name because when I received an email from her or was from someone named Stacy. This women is the worst, extremely rude and unprofessional. When I started asking questions about our case (which we have already paid $9,000 for) she became rude. She refused to transfer me to someone else, and would not let me get a word in. She wouldn’t quit interrupting me. Absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever received in my life. This women should not never work with people. Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score01 people found this review helpful!Avoid this company at all costs. I worked with Benjamin S and, years later, I still get sick and angry when I consider the money I wasted, the time I lost, and the heartache this scammer placed on my family. Benjamin completely misrepresented the scope of services for the money I spent. He described negotiations with the IRS on my behalf, but those negotiations never took place. Six months after our first letter to the IRS, with no reply from the IRS, Ben did nothing to follow up, advance my case, or work in my best interest. Basically, they take your money, write a simple letter that anyone could have made on their own. Tell you to send it yourself, then wait out the year until the contract runs out. At no time did Benjamin make attempts to verify receipt of our letter with the IRS, establish contact with a case manager, negotiate for better terms, or any of the other things he had promised when he was trying to sell me. Every time I called, inquire, complained, I just got stonewalled and treated rudely. If you do some research you will find many more complaints about Benjamin S and about the tax group center. They have ripped off many people. Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score01 people found this review helpful!Your case will drag on and on. They wont deliver any results and will keep asking you for more money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Look harder online and you see many more reviews detailing what I am telling you. These people will cheat you out of your money. Do your self a favor an hire a local tax attorney. I paid them close to $7,000.00 three years ago and still no results. I had to hire another local tax attorney and they were able to get things on the right track. The Tax Group Center cannot and will not deliver what they say. If I could leave a worse review I would. Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score01 people found this review helpful!Do not give any money to these people. It is a total scam. I was told by them that they could reduce my back taxes to just a few thousand dollars for the 2 years I was behind and the current year. I owed around $20,000 not including the current year. They charged me $3000 and sent me a bunch of paperwork to fill out and send back to them. After that was all done they said they needed another $1750 to take care of the state taxes. Then a month later they needed another $3250 to take care of the current taxes.
Three months after that I got a letter from them saying they set me up on a payment program with the IRS and I owed the IRS a total of $33000. That is all they did. I could have done that myself with 1 phone call for free. they stole a total of $8000 from me.Was this review helpful? Yes -
User Score02 people found this review helpful!THE IRS WILL PROVIDE YOU A TRANSCRIPT OF YOUR ACCOUNT YOU CAN SEE WHO’S BEEN CALLING REGARDING YOUR ACCOUNT AND IF ANY DOCUMENTS BEEN RECEIVED ALONG WITH FAX DOCUMENTS. THAT HOW I FOUND OUT I BEEN SCAMMED. THEY HAVE FORMER EMPLOYEES ON GLASSDOOR STATING THE ARE SCAMMERS. I spent 5K for them to help me negotiate my taxes after they completed my taxes and I mailed them in now I can’t get the same Stacy or her helper Jessica on the phone. I use to correspond with Jessica via emails all the time now she is saying she not my rep and someone will contact me but for the entire year she have been the only one that I have spoken to. Beside her coworker Justin who tried to scam 1500 out of me to negotiate one year for me. They have not reached out the the IRS to negotiate my taxes and now she saying my state taxes is not part of my contract but my contract doesn’t say state or Federal. It’s truly unfair, I do HR FOR A LIVING AND I CAN’T IMAGINE SCAMMING FOLKS AND NOT LOSING SLEEP . MY HEART IS BROKE AND IRS IS TELLING ME THAT TAX GROUP HAS PLENTY OF VICTIMS THAT HAVE BEEN SCAMMED.Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score02 people found this review helpful!I used Tax Group Center in 2011. After a year they did resolve my issue. Fast forward to 2017. I hired them to resolve a new issue. I was contacted by Jennifer S. She was not particularly nice. But it was fine. I used them before, I had no reason to think the service had changed. I made two payments over two months totaling 1500.00 In the meantime I called and emailed repeatedly. Not one return call. The irs issue a wage garnishment order. To make a long story short. Jennifer S. had the nerve to call me for a third payment. Not at all acknowledging my previous emails or phone calls. She hung up on me when I told her I hired another company. I called back and asked for a refund. She said I will receive zero refund and hung up again. I called again and she said Im not entitled to a refund and to stop calling. How can I not be entitled to a refund when there were no services provided. I recorded all our conversations if anyone would like to hear how ridiculous this woman is. I actually don’t blame TGC. This review is for Jennifer S. Her assistant Kandace seems like a nice person. But Jennifer is doing a disservice to your company. I plan on forwarding these recordings to any entity that will listen. If this stops one person from signing up with TGC then I’ll feel accomplished. What company takes advantage of people who ask for help and steal their hard earned money? Jennifer is the definition of a thief. She tried to run my card for 1000.00 without my permission. Fortunately I expected this and cancelled the card. And she thinks I’m not getting a refund for what I’ve paid. That shows how remedial she is. Just don’t give these people your money. Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score101 people found this review helpful!Man oh Man I have to say this organization is something else. Normally I don’t answer unknown phone calls but I have to say on that particular day I decided to answer it and it was The Tax Group Center calling me soliciting their services..As with any phone solicitation you’re always a little skeptical about trusting people with your personal info. But somehow I did. I’m very proud to say that answering that call in 2013 has changed my life. I feel as if a major cloud has been lifted from over my head and that I could move on with my life. These people have worked very hard on my complicated case but made it happened…..I GIVE THEM 5 STARS OUT OF 5… Thank You very much Dean B, Minji K , and Anna A.Was this review helpful? Yes
