- Appeals
- Bank Levies
- Innocent Spouse Relief
- IRS Audit Support
- Offer in Compromise
- Unfiled Tax Returns
Pricing Structure
Their pricing structure is one of the lowest we’ve seen in the industry; however, their matrix may fluctuate depending on the length of time it takes to resolve cases.
Free Consultation
Southwest Tax offers free consultations to determine the financial status and tax burden of tax payers and businesses, alike.
Customized Service
As a part of the services, they not only work to develop payment plans and resolution with the IRS, but they review past tax years to determine if any amendments could be made to benefit clients, exemplifying their desire to truly work in the best interest of their clients.
Dedicated Representatives
They claim throughout the entire process of case resolution, clients will be able to access only the professionals handling the case, and will never have to deal with anyone who isn’t fluent on case proceedings, including sales reps, or managers. This enables the process to run more smoothly and efficiently, not only for their benefit, but for clients as well.
IRS Negotiations
This company proves to hold the best interest of taxpayers at heart and if they determine consumers are able to tackle and resolve their tax debt directly with the IRS, they will offer an explanation of the process – saving taxpayers time and money.
The Bad
- Accreditations
- No attorney on staff
- Lack of financial education
Accreditations
Considering the size and service area of Southwest Resolution Services, they offer quality features and advice to their clients. However, there are limitations that prospective clients should be aware of prior to enrolling in their program. Southwest Resolutions Services are not a member of any other professional organization such as the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) or the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), to name a couple. Holding memberships with such organizations is a sure way to offer evidence of a company practicing with high ethical standards and integrity.
No Attorney on Staff
There is no tax attorney on staff. While EA’s are licensed the IRS and may practice across the nation, they are not able to offer legal advice or assist in litigation, leaving taxpayers with the most difficult cases seeking assistance elsewhere. For very basic tax services this might not be a problem.
Lack of Financial Education
The website is very basic and does not provide much information about tax education or about the company as a whole. This leaves a lot to the imagination. We would like to see Southwest Tax offer an informative “About Us” section in addition to more educational resources and tools. While they offer a blog, it’s outdated, with the last post being in 2014.
The Bottom Line
Southwest Tax Resolution is a smaller firm and while their prices are lower than many other companies in the industry, we recommend locals with the simplest tax related issues to take advantage of their free consultation in-house. Keep in mind, concerns are primarily based on their lack of professional memberships, in addition to their lack of company transparency. For those with more complicated issues, or out-of-state taxpayers and business owners, we recommend visiting some of our top recommended companies.
